Effects
Tailwind includes utilities for shadows, opacity, mix-blend modes, filters, backdrop filters and other visual effects. Effects should support hierarchy rather than become decoration everywhere.
Layering
Cards often use subtle shadows or borders. Strong shadows can imply elevation, while overlays may use a translucent background such as bg-black/50.
Performance and clarity
Use effects intentionally. A small set of consistent elevation levels is easier to maintain than many unrelated shadow values.
