A Dockerfile describes how to create an image. The most common instructions are FROM, WORKDIR, COPY, RUN, ENV, EXPOSE, USER, and CMD.

Each build instruction contributes to image layers. Keeping the Dockerfile deterministic and ordering stable instructions carefully improves build speed and cache reuse.
